• Question: in your 4th picture it has a device that has number dials on it. why are they there for?

      Hello rara97,

      That’s an optical component called a quarter wave plate. The numbers are the angle its at, so we use them to align it.

      The point of a quarter wave plate is to make light that goes through it circularly polarised, which is very important for what I use that setup for.
