      Hi Rajath,

Solar wind is a stream of charged particles coming from the sun (mostly protons and electrons). The earth has a magnetic field, and a charged particle moving through a magnetic field experiences a force (the Lorenz force). The magnetosphere is the region in space where the force felt by the particles in solar wind is sufficient to start changing their direction. So, the magnetosphere is the place in space where the earth’s magnetic field is most obviously protecting us from solar wind!
