• Question: Do you get to blow stuff up?

      Dear lfcyeahbuddy,

      I do, occasionally. Normally when I’m blowing stuff up it’s for an outreach event and the problem with this is that the health and safety precautions can be an absolute nightmare. When you’re blowing something up, you need to have so much information about the explosion to prove that it will be safe, and sometimes you just can’t get this information.

      A recent example is when I tried to make a ping pong ball/liquid nitrogen bomb for a show. I was told that the only way I would be allowed to do it was if every member of the audience was equipped with a military grade riot shield!

      Occasionally though, I do blow stuff up 🙂
